Sorry to call you a boomer, but you know who you are, don’t you? The first of you are coming into your 60s now, aren’t you? And there’s no reason why you should even be thinking of slowing down, is there?
For those approaching retirement but seeking to continue an active lifestyle and maintain healthy living, Triton bikes can provide all the fun, fitness and anti aging boost you might be looking for, in one neat package.
Here is what one 60-year old lady told us the other day about her Triton adult tricycle:
"I had never ridden a big wheel tricycle like this before, but I really like it - it’s a lot easier to ride than a normal bicycle. And for somebody my age it’s a great way to exercise without overdoing it. I find I can do it and it doesn’t hurt my back the way a normal bicycle can. I can go as fast or as slow as I want to so I can make it as much or as little of a workout as I want to. So it’s really fun and great to be low to the ground. It’s just a really great way to exercise"
This senior found that Triton adult tricycles are an excellent exercise for her. Recumbent bikes in general make it a lot easier for virtually any fifty plus boomers to get healthy exercise in a fun and enjoyable way, but this is espiecally true on a Triton, because of the way the Triton can be adjusted for maximum comfort.
3 wheel bikes also mean you have a much greater stability with virtually no chance of falling off - if only the same could be said for all bicycles!
Riding a Triton regularly can bring you much closer to healthy living because it helps you improve your aerobic fitness and this in turn helps reverse some of the effects of ageing, making a Triton far more useful than some of those anti aging creams you see advertised on TV!
Riding a Triton regularly can bring other health benefits as well. If you have any problems with hypertension, arthritis, asthma or depression for example then cycling can help reduce the symptoms. And if you take steps to reduce the salt, sugar and fat in your diet and combine this with regular riding you can even help prevent heart disease - you’ll have a 50% reduction in your likelihood of having a heart attack, according to some recent health surveys we’ve seen.
To get the best results, you should start slowly and try to build up to cycling for at least 20 minutes, maybe 3 - 4 times a week, at a moderate to intense level. You can then gradually increase either the distance you’re riding or your speed. But you’ll find all this very easy to achieve on a Triton, because it is just so much fun.
The most important thing is to remember, of course, to enjoy your cycling - that won’t be hard on a Triton! Just a word of caution, though: if you are over 45, or have a heart condition, do remember to have a word with your doctor before starting any exercise programme. This also applies if you are overweight or have high blood pressure (hypertension).
To help you enjoy your Triton find out if there is a Triton club in your area so you can share the experience with other like-minded people. If there isn’t one, why not become a Member of 3WheelCruiser.org.uk and start one by putting up a Post? Membership is free - Register here. Check out the membership FAQs here.
A point that the over-fifty age group often make to us is that riding a Triton is very smooth and comfortable so you don’t get any of the type of joint shock from continuous impact with the ground common with the other kind of activities favoured by the 50+, such as jogging and power-walking.
Another thing the 50+ age group tell us is that the Triton’s comfortable recumbent seating position means no pressure on the wrists, elbows and hands, which is great for anybody who might have a little arthritis in these joints. This is just one of the many positive features of the Triton from the point of view of baby boomers and seniors. Just one ride and you’re hooked! It’s an extremely enjoyable way to get outdoors, and just a little bit cool! You’ll certainly turn a few heads, which is great news at our age!
There are even many riders who have a disability that means they cannot ride a conventional bicycle, or find it difficult to ride them. But they are fine on a Triton. Another lady we spoke to said it was just what the Doctor ordered for her legs. She suffers from lower back pain so added a small cushion. She got herself a helmet in the same colour as her Triton - she is known in her local neighbourhood as the Roadrunner!
"This is what I have been looking for a long time, and even though I’m sixty I hope I can manage to ride it daily! It definitely is fun and will be a great exercise. And it is just my size! Thanks!"
"GREAT BIKE!!! Fast Delivery! Due to knee problems I was trying to think of a way to exercise my dog. THIS IS IT!!! Works like a charm with no danger for myself or my dog. Thank you for this Fantastic Bike! "
"We bought your small Tri-Ton (blue). We love it. Now here is the interesting story. L’s grandmother is a double amputee below the knees. Grandmother can slide from her wheel chair onto the "Tri-Ton" and ride around the yard, up and down the drive. Grandmother likes this better then physical therapy."
